NASA Accreditation Center

This is the end of the road to the Kennedy Space Station on Cape Canaveral.  If you don't have an accreditation, and don't have the right paperwork here, you won't get one.  So you can turn around, because security is not going to let you go any further... We turned around and headed for Coco Beach!

All along the so-called, 'Space Coast' you see signs for Astronaut High School, Aeronautics Engineering College, the air force base, etc. etc.  Speaking with one of the locals, we found out that with the shuttle program now over the local economy has gone into the tank because people have left en mass. Sad to hear how one of America's most important programs has all but dried up...

I was lucky when I passed there about twenty years ago : my girlfriend Désirée and I could not get a room anymore, but one American guy said that if we waited one more half hour the rooms of the people who had not paid yet, and not shown up, would be rented out. Just as well we ran into him because we did get a room and on top of that Matt had an accreditation to be the closest possible for the launch of Atlantis during the night. So they took us with them in their car to the lauch and he sent me some pictures of it afterwards (by post, no email yet). The next day Désirée and I were even more interested in visiting the whole site, even though we could not get out of the bus on the grounds. Needless to say we followed the whole space shuttle flight till the end that time.
