One of the most interesting things about this mountain range is the extraordinarily large rhododendron plants!  They were massive, Jurrasic Park-like plants that must be awesome to see when in full bloom... they went on for miles and miles...

After days of riding great roads in Virginia, we crossed the state line into North Carolina.

We rode 268 KMs today before pulling into the Addison Motel in Wilkesboro for the night. All around us were shopping malls, so we took a walk and found ourselves inside a Big Lot store... Inside we found an Ericsson mobile video unit for $34 - perfect for the Dragon's Tail in 2 days!
