Exploring South Florida

Ombretta and I decided that it was time to explore the region that we now call home, so we headed northwest toward Lake Okeechobee, up to Sebring, and then west to the Gulf Coast area.  These pics show the fun we found along the way...  Past the Jai Alai arena (couldn't stop because of traffic), past Aligator Alley (highway 75 that bisects the East-West axis of Florida state) and then straight on - and I mean straight - for some 75 miles to Clewiston, on the shores, err the levy, of Lake Okeechobee...  Day 1 - our adventure begins!  We made our way across to Badenton, Longboat Key, and then after visitiing friends for two days, headed down to Sanibel and Captiva islands, before cutting back across the everglades on the Tamiami Trail on Day 6.  All in, 1165 kms or 724 miles.  A real nice ride - even in the heat, which for the most part we rarely had to endure due to rain cloud cover...  And while there were lots of heavy rain showers around us, very few caught us...  A great experience of South Florida!
