IM Lanzarote 2013: Due to a new job and lot of work I have not been able to train consistently leading up to the race so wanted a good experience and paced myself. I had a great day and enjoyed every minute of it (well, most minutes; an Ironman is never 100% enjoyable...)!
1.22 swim. Stayed to the side, away from the action and craziness. My slowest Lanzarote swim to date - but the most enjoyable.
Much tougher conditions on the bike than the last couple of years, but I achieved a Lanzarote personal best of 5.52 with only 6 weeks of focused training. But pouring rain and cold feet on the first half. What's that all about??!! Felt great throughout. Lots of power and left the bike with good legs for the run.
Fairly easy marathon due to the relatively low temperature, except for the last lap which was hot: 4 hours.
All in all 11.32. Can't say I'm not consistent despite the weather! Last 3 years @ Lanzarote: 11.32, 11.30 and today 11.32... In 2005 I did the race in 11.57.
I think I'll be back in 2014 for my 5th IM Lanzarote. In fact, I have already registered...

Consistant is consistant, Lars, but finishes like your last 3 years is more like clockwork! So glad that you had a great time. Obviously, your eating habits, training regimine and overall approach to life is working if you can enjoy an Ironman competition in the manner that you did. I, for one, am very impressed. Well done my friend. And also congratulations on your family's move to the UK! I'm sure that everyone will be pleased to all be together once again... (even with London weather
