As part of preparing for Ironman Lanzarote in 5 weeks (and Frankfurt, Norseman and Challenge Copenhagen...) I got the crazy idea of waking up before 3 in the morning, bike the 120K (80 miles) from Langley (Slough) to Brighton on my heavy winter bike with 25C tires, lights, boot warmers and backpack and then run Brighton Marathon where I got a last minute VIP entry...
So that's what I did! After 4 hours of hilly biking, and some GPS goose chases, I got to the start, dropped my bike off, got my bib-number and changed to running gear. Made the start with a few minutes to spare and then did the marathon.
Fresh legs gave me a respectable first half in 1.41, but to save the legs I then slowed down and eventually crossed the finish line in 3.41 which I was very pleased with. Then took the train home, after a tuna and bacon sandwich in the sun :-)
