COWICHAN SPORTS WALL OF FAME!  This past Friday I got a phone call from Ernie who runs the parks and sports facilities in the District of North Cowichan on Vancouver Island to tell me that I had been selected for the North Cowichan Sports Wall of Fame!  I was informed that based on Mark Syme's submission of me as a candidate (Mark is my old friend from our village of Chemainus who dug up the articles such as the one included here from way back when...) the Selection Committee felt that I fit the bill to be included in the 2013 Honor Roll.  What a nice surprise!  The Dinner to fete and induct those of us selected will take place on November 16th, 2013, in Duncan on Vancouver Island. 

Such an honor can only be accepted in the name of all of those that made it happen, beginning with my dad who was such an amazing supporter of, and contributor to, my sport pursuits. My family whom I know sacrificed for me again and again over the years while I was off tilting at windmillls like Don Quixote... All of the great players that I played with - and against - that enabled me shine and to achieve the accomplishments and awards along the way. And all of the dear friends from years long gone by who gathered together to submit my nomination and support it with letters of recommendation as to why I should be included in the list of selectees for the 2013 Sports Wall of Fame.  It is with this great appreciation of all of those who enabled this to happen that I look forward to being inducted.

A huge "Thanks" to Mark, and to Ernie, for giving me a reason for the big smile on my face this weekend!
