We study Goju Ryu karate, which is originally Okanawan (Japan) style and made up of 'hard' and 'soft' movements (Go = hard; ju = soft).  So along with hard kicks and punches, we also employ fan hooks, crain movements and cat stances, all of which you would recognize in films like the first Karate Kid or the fight sequence in the Matrix when Keanu and Lawrence go at it just after the martial arts program has been downloaded into Keanu's brain.  Currently, Ombretta and I are white belts, but we have a promotion class coming up on March 17, 2012...
