Interesting article in the Sunday Times sport section on monetizing memorabilia that museums have been holding for athletes. I am a strong believer in seeing former pro athletes posting their boxes and boxes of personal memorabilia (that are currently gathering dust in basements or garages around the world) here in their own pages of lifedotsport. There are just so many things that players keep and that fans would love to see and talk about... If only the players would photograph them and put them up. This is one of the most exciting aspects of lifedotsport, as far as I'm concerned. The article is here:http:/
I particularly like the following quote from a director in the Baseball Hall of Fame: "In the marketplace it's considered memorabilia. In our world, it's considered artifacts."
Indeed, artifacts is how I see memorabilia too. Let's hope many pro athletes do as well - and over time that we see lots of artifacts on this site!
