I am sooooo sad that our tennis player Kim Clijsters lost from the 18-year old Laura Robson, a girl I had never even heard of, even though Kim had won the US Open three times before. Her whole family was in New York : her sister Elke, writing for a Flemish newspaper, since she is married to Jelle Van Damme, a Belgian footballer, their father was Lei Clijsters, also a footballer. Kim's hubby is an American athlete Brian Lynch, former professional basketball player. Did you see their daughter Jada on TV (or even life?) when Kim won her first US Open after having given birth to this cute little girl that was so natural that first time on that big screen?
I went to see Kim playing lots of times and wished she could have ended in beauty, for her, not for me!, since this was her last tournament I believe. If by chance you run into her, wish her all the best from her Belgian fans, I am one of them. She is a very nice lady! Also, once when you bought two tickets to see her play, she gave a bottle of champagne per two tickets; another time a little puppet playing tennis with her face and she is just such a positive person. Even when loosing she is still genuinely smiling at the winner, she is such a sport! Too bad she did not get a medal in London : she would really have deserved that to end her carreer. She does not know me of course, but I have been a fan of hers for years. Actually, I saw Justine Henin cheeting against her and against Serena Williams as well, so I liked Kim even more. I will definitely go to her Adieu-party in the Sportpaleis in Antwerp in December.
