Kim's 1st Invitational with Ana Ivanovitch, Kirsten Flipkens, Xavier Malisse and Henri Leconte

One year ago, on 12/12/12 Kim said goodbye to professional tennis in Het Sportpaleis in Antwerpen (Belgium). Now, three months after she gave birth to Jada's little brother Jack (September 18th), she found another fun date, 11/12/13, to organise her first 'Kim Clijsters Invitational' in the same Sportpaleis in Antwerpen. No idea if this is going to be a one time Invitational or if she's going to have these tennis meetings regularly (it'll be harder to find these fun dates though).

Ana Ivanovitch, playing the lady in red, as beautiful as ever, won the first set, but then lost from Kirsten Flipkens 3-6, 6-3 (10-7). Ana is such a sport, with always that beautiful smile on her pretty face, even when she loses. They both took some shots between the legs.

Apparently Kim loves the band Ozark Henry, since they were the ones playing on 12/12/12 and now again on 11/12/13. Some nice songs, both of them all dressed in white and bare-footed! He was bare-footed as well with our fresh new king Filip afterwards.

Though Henri Leconte (now 50 years old) never won a Grand Slam, he sure knows how to play the public and formed a fun pair with Kirsten Flipkens. He has been no. 5 in the world and won Roland Garros in doubles with Yannick Noah. He imitated Nadal in Antwerp (I also love Djokovitch's imitation of Nadal).

Xavier Malisse, who just stopped playing professionally, loves to eat now he says. He never won a Grand Slam either, but was a pro for 16 years. Kim said he put on 11 kilos in the last two months after he stopped his pro career and she gave him some more (Belgian) chocolate in the form of a broken tennis racket (life size); supposed to be a joke since Xavier broke quite some rackets in his career. They have known each other for a very long time, were at the tennis school together as kids. Malisse had just come back from Florida where he said it was 28°C.

It was a really fun game to watch, between those four, nothing but fun and laughter and oh yes Kim is still feeling like a fish in the water when playing tennis, even three months after she gave birth, and she and Malisse beat Leconte and Flipkens.

Kim is still breastfeading Jack, but later on she might travel with Flipkens. And of course she has her own tennis academy in Bree.

Kirsten Flipkens is Belgian Sports Woman of the Year (after Kim and Justine, who were both number one in the world, Kirsten only made it till no. 13) and triathlete Frederik Van Lierde, after he won the Ironman in Hawai, is Belgian Sports Man of the Year now. Have a Great Christmas and a Happy 2014!
