One year ago, on 12/12/12 Kim said goodbye to professional tennis in Het Sportpaleis in Antwerpen (Belgium). Now, three months after she gave birth to Jada's little brother Jack (September 18th), she found another fun date, 11/12/13, to organise her first 'Kim Clijsters Invitational' in the same Sportpaleis in Antwerpen. No idea if this is going to be a one time Invitational or if she's going to have these tennis meetings regularly (it'll be harder to find these fun dates though).

I am sure that any extreme sport athlete would find it a blessing to leave this world doing what they love to do, but for those left behind the question is: was it truly worth it?
Williamsburg-based deep-water diver Nick Mevoli passed at only 34 while attempting to break the US record at one of the top free diving competitions, Vertical Blue, held in the Bahamas. He was hoping to reach 72 mt on a single inhalation, with no fins or supplemental oxygen...yeah, pretty insane. ... Read full post

The so-called New York road rage incident that has ended with one person potentially paralyzed and another fearing reprisals against him and his family is a tragedy that should never have happened! The video has gone viral with over one million views since the tragic event took place 3 days ago and is detailed here for context:http:/
A few observations:
1. If the Range Rover driver had just stayed cool and allowed... Read full post

The thing I like most about life is that 24 hours can make such a difference! One never knows what lays ahead of us, and we need to be open to the opportunities that arise in any instant… Case in point…
Ombretta and I arrived at our summer home in Sardegna - Golfo Aranci - after an absence of at least two years, maybe more… In any case, far too long to be away from this beautiful corner of the world! Our home overlooks a sweet little bay called Baia... Read full post

If you’re staying at the Los Angeles Airport and planning to go for a run, beware!
I was staying at a hotel at the Los Angeles Airport. I decided to go for a run in the morning and asked for suggestions from the front desk. They suggested a run to the Pacific Ocean, which was just 3.5 miles away. The front desk helpfully traced the route using a yellow highlighter on a street map, which I placed into my pocket.
Let me stop here and give you a quick overview of the Los... Read full post

Now that the money Blatter received has been quietly moved to his Swiss bank (pardon my cynicism) here is today's sport headline: Blatter labels 2022 World Cup award a ‘mistake’
"Fifa president Sepp Blatter has admitted the decision of world football’s governing body to award the 2022 World Cup to Qatar was “a mistake”, adding it was now “probable” that the tournament would be played in the winter months."
Like he didn't know that that was his... Read full post

I just don’t get it! Alex Rodriguez signed a contract for $275 million to play baseball – the highest contract ever offered. Instead of investing some of that fortune in himself by hiring fitness coaches, nutritionists, psychologists and others that would enable him to stay at the top of his game, A-Rod chose to buy performance enhancing drugs and lie about them to all of his fans and fans of baseball. Like Lance Armstrong, A-Rod took the arrogant attitude that... Read full post

One of the things that I see a lot of in Miami Beach is people on rollerblades, not to mention skate boards, bicycles and any other type of wheels you can imagine... But it's the rollerbladers that catch my eye because most of them struggle dangerously through the crowds walking on the sidewalks or Lincoln Road. The common problem that they all share is a lack of understanding of what one is actually doing when skating or blading, i.e. they confuse the techniques we use to walk with... Read full post

Anyone who knows me, or follows my blog, will know that I am not a fanatic about my health; rather someone who is trying to work with what I have been given and what is avaiable to me to take advantage of the longevity that each of us possesses, but rarely considers. Our bodies are truly miraculous things. The myriad ways that we regenerate virtually everyone one of our cells in our bones, muscles and tissue every second of every minute of everyday is mind boggling to me. Miraculous... Read full post

Back in mid-April, I had a battery problem with Black Betty and realized that the charger I had borrowed was malfunctioning. So I jumped on to Ombra's Betty Davis to ride over to the Advanced Autoparts store about 5 long blocks away to buy a new one. I paused before getting on because it was a bright day and I thought I should run upstairs to grab a pair of sunglasses, but didn't follow my intuition and headed off on my mission. I didn't get 100 feet from my home when, as I... Read full post
