Great article in the main section of the NY Times today about how years ago the Dutch farmers crossed canals dividing their fields by vaulting over them with a pole, since bridges were few and far between. Recently, in Linschoten, Holland, Jaco de Groot won the competition by vaulting 67 feet! With almost 3,000 swimmers in a fairly small... Read full post

I saw him playing on television and was struck by his technique, so I asked my wife to come look at him. Now I never saw myself play, but I feel that this player is playing much the same as I used to play, and she looked at him on Television and said yes, there is a similarity between the two... his compactness, technique, stroke production... it all seemed to gel.Sir Donald BradmanIn terms of technique and compactness, Tendulkar is the best.Desmond HaynesI have watched a lot of Tendulkar and... Ombra just added a new photo album about our week-long trek through the Dolomite mountains in Italy, in late May 2004. The photos are really awesome and show just how inhospitable these extraordinary mountains are - really rugged countryside!
Check it out!

** 18:18 after having waited on Avis coming back with a solution for a couple of hours:OK I know this sounds crazy, but I managed to get myself and my colleague/fellow IM Frankfurt competitor locked out of our rental car in Germany (a French Renault Scenic), with the car key in the car, and absolutely all of our belongings in the car as well. Money, phones, bikes, luggage. One of those nice keyless entry systems which are great when they work, but getting back into the car is virtually... Read full post
